School janitor arrested for sexually abusing 50 girls in Turkey's southeast

A school janitor in the Derik district of the southeastern province of Mardin has been arrested over claims of sexually abusing 50 girls aged between eight and 12, Doğan News agency has reported.

The incident unfolded after one of the victims told her family that she was sexually abused by the janitor, 43, identified only by the initials M.Ş.Y., in her school. 

Four people injured in brawl between locals, Syrians in Turkey's Adana

Four people were injured following a brawl between locals and Syrians in the southern province of Adana late on Feb. 27, Doğan News agency has reported.

The brawl erupted for an unknown reason between neighborhood residents and Syrians who reside in tents in the Bahçelievler neighborhood of Yüreğir district.

Hostage-taker neutralized with anesthetic juice after 28 hour standoff in Turkey's Şanlıurfa

A man who took his four children and his girlfriend hostage in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa was neutralized with anesthetic juice after a 28-hour hostage situation on Feb. 12, Doğan News agency has reported.

Prosecutors demand 230 years prison sentences for ousted Diyarbakır Co-Mayor Kışanak

The Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has demanded 230 years in prison for ousted Diyarbakır Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak on claims of "being the founder and executive of an armed terrorist group" and "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," Doğan News agency reported on Nov. 29. 

Four engines drivers injured as trains collide in Turkey's Sivas

A freight train and a shunting train collided in the Divriği district of the Central Anatolian province of Sivas on Oct. 17, injuring four engine drivers, Doğan News agency has reported.

The freight train carrying iron ore collided with the shunting train while en route to the southern port of İskenderun.
