Earthquake in Bulgaria with a Magnitude above 4.5

There was an earthquake in Bulgaria around 3:30 p.m. today. According to the European Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale. The epicenter is 17 km southeast of Plovdiv, 3 km from Asenovgrad and 146 km from the capital, according to data from the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Registered in Bali

An earthquake with a 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale has been registered near the Indonesian island of Bali, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported.

The epicentre of the quake is located 68 kilometers northwest of Denpasar, the administrative centre of Bali. More than 800,000 people live in this city.

The quake was registered at a depth of 10 kilometers.

6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Chile

A strong earthquake shook the Chilean capital, Santiago, last night. There was a protest demonstration downtown against poor social services and economic inequality, the AP reported.

According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.0 on the Richter scale. The epicentre is 28 km southwest of the town of Ilapel. The depth was 49 km.

Moderate Earthquake Rocks Romania's Vrancea

A 5-6 magnitude quake hit Vrancea county in Romania early Wednesday and was felt across Bulgaria, seismologists and media report.

There are no reports of injured people after the quake.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre measured its epicenter at a depth of 98 km beneath the surface, 148 km north of the capital Bucharest and 8 km west of Nereju.

Greece Rocked by 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake

A 4.8-strong earthquake has hit the north of Greece, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has said.

The quake's epicenter was at a depth of 10km and located 12 km north-east of Polykastron.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damaged buildings.

BGNES wire service reports the quake was also felt throughout southwestern Bulgaria.

New Strong Quake Shakes Italy

A 6.6-magniture earthquake has hit Norcia in central Italy, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reports.

Earlier this week, major tremors struck the country's central area, but Sunday's quake has been the largest so far.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries. 

New Quake Hits Romania's Vrancea

A 3.1-magnitude earthquake has hit the area of Vrancea in Eastern Romania, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has said.

The new tremor comes after the powerful quake that shook the country's east and was felt in Northeastern Bulgaria, Moldova and parts of Ukraine.

There have been no immediate reports about damage caused by either quake.
