European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee

The request for the the lifting of the immunity of former SYRIZA MEP Alexis Georgoulis, who has been accused of rape and sexual abuse, will be examined during an extraordinary meeting of the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) next Tuesday, May 23. 

At the same extraordinary JURI meeting, the request for waiver of immunity of MEP Maria Spyraki will also be examined. 

Certainly, everyone expected him to get a grilling by the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET). But the Hungarian administration had been assiduous in preparing him for the hearing and Trocsanyi was an avid student.

So optimism was in the air as the European Parliament started vetting candidates to run the EU's executive arm.

The Bulgarian Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva will make a working visit to the Belgian capital Brussels on June 19 and 20, the press center of the ministry said.
