Pitchfork-wielding populists in the EP
âThere is no doubt that many populist, Euroskeptic and even nationalistic parties are entering the European Parliament,â said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier after all the votes in last Sundayâs, May 25, election for the European Unionâs Parliament had been counted.

Just toward the anniversary of the Gezi protests, a message popped into my mailbox. It wrote âFood not Bombs.â To my astonishment, they were already going to have their 14th event. Food not bombs-Istanbul is a movement started by a group of like-minded youngsters who cannot stand the thought of wasting food when there are starving people.

Central Athens LAOS party offices firebombed
Two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the offices of Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) in Patissia, central Athens, on Friday night.
The attack cause minor damage to the partys offices.
Nobody was hurt.
Ultranationalist LAOS surprised experts by gaining 2.7 percent of the vote in the European Parliament elections.

Legislators of Democratic Left (DIMAR), a former coalition partner which suffered a battering in last weeks European Parliament elections, met on Friday to discuss strategy and rejected an offer by party leader Fotis Kouvelis to resign from his post.
To Potami delegates to go camping during congress
To Potami, the new centrist party that gained 6.6 percent in the European Parliament elections on Sunday, announced on Friday that it will hold its first party congress at a campsite in Thrace, northeastern Greece.
The partys 6,800 members have been invited to book to attend the event, which will take place on the last weekend of June.

Bulgarian MEP Names Announced by Central Electoral Commission
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced the names of Bulgaria's 17 newly-elected MEPs.
On its website, CEC reveals that expected reshuffles were officially made in a few parties' European elections lists.
