The voting in the European Parliament elections ended at 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Over 18,000 polling stations in Romania closed their doors.

Votes were cast between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in 18,532 polling stations in Romania; 190 polling stations for Romanian citizens abroad use their local time.

The voter turnout in Sunday's elections for the European Parliament was 26.52 percent at 7 p.m. according to data released by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) for the whole country.

The turnout was 23.69 percent in urban areas and 30.37 percent in rural areas.
