Scientists challenge dark energy theory
Dark energy, long thought to drive the accelerating of the expansion of the universe, may not exist, according to a groundbreaking study.
The research, based on enhanced light-curve analysis of "type Ia supernovae," suggests the universe expands in a "lumpy" and uneven manner rather than uniformly.

The Greek-flagged ship Sounion has been on fire since August 23 after an attack by Yemen's Houthis with no obvious signs of an oil spill, EU Red Sea naval mission Aspides has said in a post on X.
The EU mission published photos dated Sunday showing fire and smoke coming out of the vessel's main deck.
National fire-detecting system
Four thermal imaging microsatellites, which measure the thermal energy emitted by an object, will monitor Greece, possibly even from the summer of 2025, to identify any fire hotspots.

World's first wooden satellite built by Japan researchers
The world's first wooden satellite has been built by Japanese researchers who said their tiny cuboid craft will be blasted off on a SpaceX rocket in September.
Each side of the experimental satellite developed by scientists at Kyoto University and logging company Sumitomo Forestry measures just 10 centimeters (four inches).
