Universities to hold academic year opening festivities

Several universities in Bucharest and elsewhere in Romania are holding today festivities to mark the opening of academic year 2019-2020. They include the University of Bucharest, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) and the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, as well as several faculties within the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration.

Bucharest University Rector Dumitru, elected chairman of Balkan Universities Association

Professor Mircea Dumitru, the rector of the University of Bucharest (UB), was unanimously elected chairman of the Balkan Universities Association by members the General Assembly at the fourth conference of the Balkan Universities Association (BUA), which took place in Tetovo, in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, March 30-31, 2018.

HR Network, Nobel laureates voice support for under-fire Turkish academics

The Executive Committee of the International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (H.R. Network) issued a statement endorsed by 28 Nobel laureates in support of Turkish academics who have come under fire for signing a petition calling for an end to military operations in southeast Turkey.
