Heatwave with 39C and risks of Fires in Four Regions Across the Country

The weather is expected to be generally clear today, according to the National Weather Service, while occasional clouds are expected on the mainland, mainly in the mountains, in the midday and afternoon hours. Winds will blow from the north at 4 to 6, in the east locally at 7, and during the day in the central Aegean up to 8 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly.

The fire on the Athens-Corinth Highway has been extinguished after the tanker truck overturned – Lane towards Athens remains closed

A state of emergency has been declared by the Fire Department after a tanker truck overturned on Friday morning on the Athens–Corinth National Highway near Kineta, causing a large fire and significant disruptions for drivers.

Due to the fire, the National Highway near Kineta had been closed in both directions, and traffic is being diverted to the old national road.

The fire in southern Rethymno has been rekindled – Message from 112 for the residents

The large fire that broke out yesterday at noon in southern Rethymno, in the areas of Amari and Agios Vasileiou, has been rekindled. Strong firefighting forces are operating to extinguish the fire while four aerial means, two helicopters and two airplanes, were raised and are carrying out continuous water drops.

Local showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur at noon – afternoon in the mountains and possibly in the morning hours in areas of central Macedonia, eastern Thessaly and northern Evia, while in the remaining areas generally clear weather is expected.

Driver injured after fire engine topples

The driver of a fire engine was injured on Thursday after the vehicle overturned while operating in central Evia.

According to information from the Fire Department, the fire engine fell into a side slope on its way to extinguish the fire raging in the area of Pissonas since Wednesday.

The driver was collected by an ambulance. 

Fire in Agia Marina Koropi near a residential area – 112 sent for evacuation of settlements

The fire broke out shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday morning in an outdoor area in Agia Marina Koropi.

The flames are burning near a residential area and a 112, was sent out asking residents in the area of Megalo Metochi Agia Marina to move to Koropi Avenue – Agia Marina.
