A fish caught by three fishermen a few days ago in the Kızılırmak River, running through the city center of the Central Anatolian province of Sivas, and said to be a piranha has been revealed to be a pacu, officials have said.

Fears of bird flu in Turkey grow after second suspected case
Turkish officials have launched a bird flu investigation in a Central Anatolian town, one day after authorities confirmed an incident in the country's north, quarantining a village.
The inspection was launched in the town of Sazlıca in Niğde after an animal breeder reported 100 chicken deaths on his farm, according to Doğan news agency.
65 police officers hospitalized on suspicion of food poisoning after Erdoğan's rally
Some 65 police officers on duty were hospitalized on March 15 on suspicion of food poisoning following a meeting by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the inner Aegean province of Afyonkarahisar, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
The president was in Afyonkarahisar for an opening ceremony and a retinue of police officers was responsible for security measures during his speech.

Neighborhood quarantined after rabies detected in northern Turkey
A neighborhood in the Black Sea province of Samsun has been quarantined following the detection of the rabies virus in a dog that bit a woman in Samsun's Vezirköprü district.
