Farmers to receive training on water use

Within the scope of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry's efforts to combat drought, farmers across the country will receive training on protecting the quality and quantity of water resources and observing the usage balance.

The ministry will implement measures to ensure food safety against climate change within the scope of combating drought.

Nearly 400,000 pets registered on PETVET system: Ministry

Nearly 400,000 pets from across the country were registered on a pet-tracking system called "PETVET" since the beginning of last year, according to a report by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry.

According to a ministry report released recently, 162,075 cats, 231,685 dogs and 11 weasels were registered to the system since Jan. 1, 2021.

Marmara Sea’s biodiversity restoring as mucilage disappears

The biodiversity of the Marmara Sea has begun to restore as endangered species that once left the sea are now returning to the waters, following the clearing of mucilage, which gravely invaded and threatened the marine fauna, officials have announced.

The protection measures implemented by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry in the Marmara Sea in 2020 have yielded positive results.

Mad honey victim bear named ‘Balkız,’ released to nature

A bear, who sensationalized social media for a video showing her passing out from eating too much mad honey, has been named "Balkız," (Honey Girl) by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry and released to nature.

"The name of our teddy bear is 'Balkız.' Let her live by the name," the ministry tweeted on Aug. 13.

Ministry recalls Kinder products

Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has announced that some Kinder products manufactured in Belgium will be recalled due to salmonella risks.

The ministry said on April 21 that Schoko Bons, a chocolate product of the Kinder brand, will be partially recalled, after reports of a salmonella outbreak in Kinder Surprise eggs produced in Europe.

Parliament ratifies 4th judicial reform package, animal protection law

The Turkish Parliament on early July 9 approved a long-awaited Animal Protection Law amendment that aimed to protect animals from being abused by humans, changing the scope of the crime committed against animals.

Accordingly, animals will now be removed from the "goods" status and will be counted as "living creatures" in the eyes of law.
