550 ex-lawmakers, including former leaders, to launch 'No' campaign
Some 550 former members of parliament, who served in 16 different political parties including the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), have launched a "No" campaign ahead of the April 16 referendum on whether to shift Turkey to an executive presidential system.
Bulgaria's Ex-Parliament Speaker Appointed Caretaker PM
Former Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov has been appointed by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev as Prime Minister ad interim, the President's press office says.
The name of Gerdzhikov has been widely mentioned in the media since the end of last year, but Gerdzhikov has only commented reluctantly.
Bulgaria's Ex-Parliament Speaker 'Considered as Caretaker PM'
Former Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov has neither confirmed nor denied readiness to take over as Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister.
In an interview with public broadcaster BNT, Gerdzhikov has however, confirmed earlier reports he was approached about the issue.
"Let's have a solution first," he has told the BNT.
Ex-speaker heralds justice watchdog
Former Parliament speaker and leader of the Sailing for Freedom party, Zoe Constantopoulou, announced the creation on Tuesday of a special body to "monitor and facilitate" high-profile court cases involving the state and intervene with the submission of relevant evidence to ensure that the tenets of the Greek Constitution are upheld.
