Turkish basketball playoffs set to tip off

The Turkish Basketball League (TBL) playoffs get underway on May 20, as third seed Darü??afaka Do?u? welcomes Trabzonspor Medical Park to Ayhan ?ahenk Arena with tip-off scheduled for 6:45 p.m. local time and second seed Anadolu Efes hosts Türk Telekom at Istanbul's Abdi ?pekçi Arena.

The playoff action will continue on May 21, when Izmir-based P?nar Kar??yaka will take on Banvit. 

Star point guard Carlos Arroyo, Galatasaray part ways

Financial problems have taken another toll on Galatasaray Liv Hospital, with the team's star point guard announcing his departure due to a dispute over his payments.

Puerto Rican star Carlos Arroyo reportedly asked the club to pay $550,000 in unpaid wages, saying he would leave if they did not, but the club said it "will not bow to blackmail."

Galatasaray players boycott training session over delayed wages

Galatasaray Liv Hospital players refused to attend a team training session late Jan. 19 in protest at a delay in wage payments.

The squad was present at the first training session earlier in the day, but a second training session was canceled after the players said they would boycott it.

Team Europe defeats Team Asia 138-130 at TBL All-Star Ankara

In front of a sell-out crowd of more than 10,000 fans at Ankara Arena Team Europe defeated Team Asia 138-130 in the Turkish Basketball League All-Star Jan. 18.

The game featured 24 players from eight different countries, with teams comprised of the stars of Turkish Basketball League's (TBL) Europe- and Asia-based clubs.

Five Galatasaray fans detained in murder probe of Red Star fan Ivkovic

Five Turkish football fans have been detained, after the police established a special task force to investigate the murder of 25-year-old Marko Ivkovic, who was killed Nov. 21 before a Turkish Airlines Euroleague game between Galatasaray Liv Hospital and Red Star Belgrade in Istanbul.
