General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki

Over 1,100 violations were confirmed yesterday, September 19, in various areas of Thessaloniki, by police officers of the Traffic Directorate.

Specifically, according to an announcement by the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, police officers carried out vehicle checks and confirmed a total of 1,133 violations

In a move aimed, according to sources, at bolstering Greece's National Intelligence Service (EYP) in its fight against organized crime, the government on Tuesday replaced the agency's deputy chief, Lieutenant-General Giorgos Kellis, with Antonis Tzitzis, a former officer of the Greek Police (ELAS).

Police in Thessaloniki arrested four people around the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUT) on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, in an operation aimed at tackling crime in the area.

Three hundred refugees from Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan arrived at the former military camp “Anagnostopoulou” at Diavata which was turned into a refugee reception center. Another 1,600 people are expected to arrive today.
