Turkish officials provided additional information about people they believe to have links to terrorist groups to a German delegation visiting Turkey, Interior Ministry sources said April 4. 

German lawmakers have voiced anger at claims that Turkey is spying on a fellow member of parliament.

The caucus leader of the Social Democratic Party, Thomas Oppermann, said it was "absolutely unacceptable" that lawmaker Michelle Müntefering "appeared on a list" that the Turkish National Intelligence Agency (MİT) handed to the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND). 

Turkey's National Intelligence Agency (MİT) has sent files regarding the followers of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen living in Germany to German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) after gathering information on them by spying, according to German media reports. 

Turkey has summoned the German Embassy's Chargé D'Affairs to its Foreign Ministry in reaction to the German Federal Intelligence Service's (BND) statements that they have not been convinced the Fethullahist movement was behind the July 2016 coup attempt. 

The head of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND - Bundesnachrichtendienst), Bruno Kahl, spoke to Der Spiegel magazine, stating that the Gülen community was not behind the July 15 coup attempt. The comments prompted waves of reaction in Turkey, including a severe reaction from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
