Coronavirus cases rise to 1,673 as death toll goes to 68

Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras on Saturday announced 60 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total to 1,673. 

He also announced a rise in the death toll to 68 after nine hospital patients died. The average age of the dead is 74, he said. 

Another 92 patients remain in the intensive care units of Greek hospitals. 

Health Ministry expert briefs PM on coronavirus

Sotiris Tsiodras, the Greek Health Ministry's spokesman over the new coronavirus and infectious diseases expert, briefed Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Saturday on the next steps in the fight against the virus.

Four more people died from the coronavirus in Greece on Saturday, raising the country's total fatalities to 67.

Coronavirus deaths rise to 53 with total cases pending as tests on ferry continue

Greek Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras on Thursday announced 99 new cases of coronavirus with the death toll rising to 53. 

Of these 23 are residents at the Ritsona refugee camp, north of Athens, and 49 people on a passenger ferry currently anchored off Piraeus. 

Deaths rose to 53 after three more patients, died in the hospital, he said.

Coronavirus cases rise to 743 with death toll increasing to 20

Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras on Tuesday announced 48 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total nationwide to 743.

Another three infected people died, pushign the death toll 20.

Of those infected, 134 are in hospital with 45 in critical condition, Tsiodras said. 

Greece stops all connections with Turkey, UK over coronavirus concerns

The Greek Health Ministry announced on Monday that it is suspending all connections to Turkey and the United Kingdom as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus. 

The decision was announced in a government gazette issued on Sunday night, is to apply from 6 a.m. today to 3 p.m. on April 15.
