Callas Holograms | Athens | November 11 & 12

The Hellenic Cosmos cultural center is showcasing an innovative project by Base Hologram which uses cutting-edge technology to recreate some of the finest moments in the career of legendary Greek soprano Maria Callas. The hologram screenings on November 11 and 12 are enhanced with live music from the Greek National Opera Orchestra.

Hadjidakis Tribute | Athens | September 28-30

Accompanied by singers Alkinoos Ioannidis and Dimitra Selemidou, the Greek National Opera orchestra and choir present Manos Hadjidakis's emblematic "Gioconda's Smile" and "Magnus Eroticus" song cycles in a tribute to the celebrated Greek composer at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) on September 28, 29 and 30. Shows start at 8 p.m.

Zorba | Athens | September 15

The historic Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) is hosting the Sofia Opera Ballet and the Greek National Opera Orchestra in a production of Lorca Massine's ballet of Mikis Theodorakis's classic score "Zorba," based on the legendary hero created by Nikos Kazantzakis and immortalized on the silver screen by Anthony Quinn in the 1964 Michael Cacoyannis film.

O Vaftistikos | Athens | To November 6

The Greek National Opera will be staging a new production of Theofrastos Sakellaridis's "O Vaftistikos" (The Godson) in a series of performances running taking place on October 30 and November 2 and 6. Directed by Simos Kakalas, the operetta is one of the Greek repertoire's most popular works, with a story based on a series of comical misunderstandings.
