David Murray Quartet | Athens | November 17-20

Jazz master David Murray returns to the Half Note Jazz Club stage (halfnote.gr) for a series of performances from November 17. The US-born saxophonist, bass clarinet player and composer will be accompanied by Marta Sanchez on the piano, Luke Stewart on double bass, and Russell Carter on drums, presenting his distinguished celebration of blues, gospel and R&B.

Monika Kabasele | Athens | November 23

Young jazz vocalist Monika Kabasele will present her debut album with her band Grecofuturisme at the Half Note Jazz Club (halfnote.gr) on November 23. With Congolese roots and inspired by a range of jazz forms as well as Greek artists, Kabasele was born and raised in Greece and has been living in Paris for the past four years.

Milo Z | Athens | February 7-10

Milo Z returns from New York for a four-day stint at the Half Note in Mets with his signature blend of rock, rap, jazz, blues and funk that he calls Razzamofunk. Influenced by acts including Prince and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He will be accompanied in his series of shows in Athens by Glenn Johnson on guitar, Jocko Jorrin on the bass, Wes Maples on tenor sax, Joel A.

Dimitris Kalantzis Quintet | Athens | January 15

The Half Note in downtown Athens presents the Dimitris Kalantzis Quintet in a jazz tribute to Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. The quintet is made up of Dimitris Kalantzis on the piano, Takis Paterelis on saxophone, Dimitris Papadopoulos on trumpet, Alex-Drakos Ktistakis on drums and Giorgos Georgiadis on bass. Doors open at 8.30 p.m. and the concert starts an hour later.

Molvaer, Aarset & Rohrer | Athens | To January 12

Norwegian trumpeter and composer Nils Petter Molvaer is performing at the Half Note Jazz Club in downtown Athens along with musicians Eivind Aarset and Samuel Rohrer through Sunday January 12. Molvaer is known for his innovative musical blends of jazz and electronica and has been considered one of the pioneers of nu jazz since the release of his first solo album "Khmer" in 1997.

The Arlettes | Athens | To January 3

Swing is on the program at the capital's Half Note Jazz Club through January 3 (closed on Monday), with the Arlettes paying homage to the genre's greats in the 1930s and 40s. The trio consists of mezzo-sopranos Paulina Plucinski and Stefanie Bruckner, and soprano Madeleine Haipt, accompanied by saxophones, piano, bass and drums. Tickets cost 20, 25 and 30 euros and doors open at 10.30 p.m.

Sandra Hall > Athens > May 14

Sandra Hall & The Blues Explosion wrap up a run of shows at the Half Note Jazz Club on Monday, May 14. The African-American blues and soul blues singer and songwriter, with five albums under her belt, has performed with the likes of Otis Redding, Joe Tex and the Temptations and is no stranger to the tour circuit. Her final show at the Half Note starts at 9.30 p.m.

Earl Thomas | Athens | To April 2

Acclaimed American blues singer Earl Thomas, also a songwriter who has provided material for the likes of Tom Jones and Etta James, is on stage at the Half Note Jazz Club through Monday, April 2. Tickets cost 20, 25 and 30 euros and can be booked by phone at the club. Shows start at 10.30 p.m. on Saturday and 9.30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Stazo Mayor Trio | Athens | To March 19

The Stazo Mayor Trio pays tribute to the Argentinean tango legend Luis Stazo at the Half Note Jazz Club, in a series of concerts that also include a display of the dance by Pilar Alvarez and Claudio Hoffmann. Shows start at 10.30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 9.30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Tickets cost 20, 25 and 30 euros and can be booked by phone.
