Ioannina man arrested over large weapons cache

Police in northwestern Greece have seized an arsenal of weapons and ammunition from the property of a 76-year-old man on the outskirts of the town of Ioannina.

In an announcement published on Thursday, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) said that investigators acting on a tip-off raided the man's house and a nearby shed on Wednesday.

Greek police launches new Cyberalert center

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) has launched its new and improved Cyberalert center, which allows citizens to call the 11188 hotline to report cyber attacks or crimes.

The new center utilizes voice over IP that is expected to speed up and improve services. It also allows call handlers to connect citizens with a specialized cyber crimes officer at their nearest police precinct.
 

Parents of dead university student challenge coroner's findings

The parents of a 21-year-old student who was found dead on the southeast Aegean island of Kalymnos last month filed a homicide suit on Monday at Hellenic Police headquarters in Athens against persons unknown.

The parents have called into question the conclusions of the coroner who conducted the autopsy on Nikos Hatzipavlou's battered body and ruled his death an accident.
