Demolitions of interwar buildings altering city character
The demolition of one- and two-story historical houses from the interwar period in Athens' old districts, such as Agios Nikolaos Street in Koukaki, in the center of the capital, is taking on worrying proportions. The reason is the possibility provided by new building regulations allowing greater heights and covering plots in narrow streets.
Eco groups urge review of river management project
The Hellenic Society for Environment and Culture (ELLET) and three environmental organizations are calling for a review of the Erasinos River management project in the Mesogeia region of Attica.

Ecological Films | Athens | February 5-8
The 16th Panorama of Ecological Films, titled "Windows to our Planet," is a series of screenings co-organized by the Hellenic Society for Environment and Culture and the Greek Film Archive from February 5 to 8. The event is aimed at informing and sensitizing viewers to the issues affecting our planet. Twelve films from nine different countries will be shown.
