October posts major rise in accommodation turnover
Turnover for Greece's accommodation businesses jumped 17.7% in October compared to last year, while turnover in the food service sector was only 5.1% higher year on year, figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority Tuesday showed.

Greek merchant fleet sees 0.4% increase
The Greek-owned merchant fleet increased by 0.4% in October 2024 compared with October 2023. An increase of 0.3% was recorded in October 2023 compared with October 2022, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Wednesday.

The Greek economy grew by 2.4% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter of 2023, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Unemployment rate at 9.8% in October
The unemployment rate stood at 9.8% in October compared to a downwards revised 10.8% in October 2023 and an upwards revised 9.4% in September 2024, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) has said.
The unemployed amounted to 466,858 people, a decrease of 44,806 compared to the same month last year (8.8%) and an increase of 22,104 people compared to the previous month (5%).

Meager growth for retail commerce turnover in Q3
Turnover in all businesses of the retail sector in Greece posted a small annual increase of 0.8% in the third quarter of 2024, significantly below the inflation rate, while apparel retailers saw an annual decline, according to figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Friday.
