Jobless rate stays below 10%
Provisional data from the independent Hellenic Statistics Authority (ELSTAT) showed that the unemployment rate in July was 9.9%, higher than June's 9.5%. The latter figure is the final, downwardly revised one, with the provisional having been 9.6%.

Disposable income has shrunk
Per capita real disposable income of Greek households shrunk 1.9% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the final quarter of 2023, data released Monday by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development show.
This is the greatest drop among the 38 OECD members, which, on average showed real per capita disposable incomes rising 0.9%.

Inflation shoots up to 2.7%
Inflation edged higher in July, ending a run of decreasing rates. The Consumer Price Index published Friday by the Hellenic Statistics Authority grew 2.7% year-on-year, up from 2.3% in June.
The result was not surprising, at least since the publication of the EU-wide Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices by Eurostat.

Trade deficit expands 10.5% in first half as exports decline, imports rise
Imports rose and exports shrank during the first half of the year, expanding the trade deficit by 10.5%, the Hellenic Statistics Authority announced Wednesday.
Food prices jump 9.9% in October
Inflation rose to 3.4% in October, compared to 1.6% in September, data from the Hellenic Statistics Authority has shown.
Food prices increased by 9.9%, while prices in the health sector went up by 5.6 and in the hospitality sector by 4.8%.
