Floods in Western Balkans Cause Huge Damage, Drownings

In Montenegro, heavy rain in the towns of Pljevlja, Mojkovac and Rozaje blocked roads due to rising water levels and landslides. The Interior Ministry said its Protection and Rescue Office was in constant communication with local authorities, adding that the army is on standby if the situation worsens.

Flood Threat Prompts Serbia to Declare Emergency

Serbia's government said it was declaring an emergency situation as a preventive measure, so that the authorities can react fast in saving lives and repairing damage caused by floods.

"The government will have daily meetings of the headquarters for emergency situations, and will continuously follow the situation in the field and inform citizens about it," it said.

Floods Kill Four in Southern Romania

Heavy rain, causing rivers to overflow, has killed four people, including a child, in the Teleorman county of southern Romania, according to the authorities. Two other people are still missing and hundrends have also been evacuated because their homes flooded.
