Rising global temperatures and the expected increase in the frequency of droughts from every 10 years to every five years pose a grave threat to food security in the world, the head of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia warned on Nov. 12.

Turkey exports flour to 164 countries around the globe, meaning that 90 percent of the world's population consumes Turkish flour, a top flour industry official told Anadolu Agency on May 12.

Heeding public health directives to stay at home, now many Turks have returned to an age-old tradition of making homemade bread, leading to unexpected climbs in demand for both yeast and flour.       

Hundreds of domestic and international players in the flour industry will gather next week in Turkey's Mediterranean resort city of Antalya.

The Turkish Flour Industrialists' Federation (TFIF) will hold its 16th International Congress and Exhibition under the theme, Wheat and Flour: Production, Trade and Sustainability from March 12-15.
