Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has announced the commencement of efforts to relocate the country's capital from Tehran to the southern borders, along the shores of the Persian Gulf.

U.S. prosecutors announced charges on Friday in an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate former president Donald Trump and a prominent dissident Iranian-American journalist.

The attack started around 8.15 p.m. local time (1645GMT) on Tuesday. Iranian media said at least 400 missiles had been launched so far.

The situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile and appears increasingly grim. In Western capitals, there is significant concern about a potential escalation of Israel’s conflict with the terrorist organizations Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iranian involvement cannot be dismissed either.

The US Central Command announced that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to expedite its deployment to the Middle East, reflecting growing concerns over a potential regional conflict amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip, the Pentagon reported on Sunday.

According to the report, which cites seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians and one American official, the explosive device was secretly brought into the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) building in Tehran approximately two months ago.
