Warrants issued for 45 Turkish navy soldiers over alleged use of ByLock app

Istanbul prosecutors on Dec. 27 issued detention warrants for 45 navy soldiers for allegedly using ByLock, an encrypted messaging application said to have been used by members of the Gülenist movement, who are believed to be behind the July 15 coup attempt. 

US, Europe criticize Turkey over Cumhuriyet raids, detentions

Followers of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen reportedly developed the smartphone app ByLock, which came to prominence after the attempted July 15 coup due to the coup plotters' usage of the app, before the elections of Turkey's Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) in 2014. 

26 former police officers face trial in Hrant Dink murder
