HDP co-leader files complaint upon being attacked by security forces in Silvan

The co-leader of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Figen Yüksekda?, has filed a complained upon being attacked by security forces in the town of Silvan in the southeastern Anatolian province of Diyarbak?r when trying to visit the town while under curfew as a parliamentary delegation.

Lawyers object to return of indictment against public servants to prosecutor in Dink case

Lawyers of the victim have reacted against the authorities' decision to return the indictment involving suspected public servants in the January 2007 murder of prominent Turkish-Armenian journalistHrant Dink to the prosecutor in charge of the investigation. The return means that cases will likely not be opened against the suspects.

President Erdo?an's son denies claims he fled, saying he 'didn't teleport' to Istanbul studio

The son of President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, whose name was embroiled in Turkey's biggest graft probe in 2013, denied reports he fled to Italy in a televised interview on Oct. 22, saying he "didn't teleport" to private broadcaster A Haber's studios in Istanbul.

Yet another attack on the free press

This week, as usual, lots of crazy things happened in Turkey. The most mind-boggling one for me, however, was an indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office against 18 journalists. They were accused of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization," with the prosecutor asking for up to 7.5 years in prison for each.
