Turkish police officers have detained a militant from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) who planted explosives under a road in Istanbul targeting specially trained Turkish soldiers.

A total of 16 suspects, including the press advisor of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Figen Yüksekda?, have been detained in anti-terror operations against the outlawed Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) in seven Turkish provinces.

A suspected member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been killed in a police raid on a terrorist cell in Istanbul, which was conducted upon intelligence PKK members were readying for a suicide bomb attack.
