Istanbul State Opera

The construction of the new Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), a prominent symbol of Istanbul, is in its last phase as the first acoustic testing of the center's main stage has been successfully carried out, according to daily Hürriyet.

Igor Stravinsky's opera 'The Rake's Progress' will be staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) throughout March. The opera, which was first staged in the world in 1951, will be at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera Stage on March 13, 14, 17, 18, 20 and 21.

'Masters of Dance,' featuring works by leading choreographers including Mehmet Balkan, Uğur Seyrek, Aydın Teker ve Beyhan Murphy, will be performed by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet MDTist dancers. The show will be on stage at Beşiktaş Süleyman Saba Culture Center on Feb 20, 26 and March 4.

The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) will perform 'Dance Trio, made up of 'Spring,' 'Nox' and 'Bolero,' On Nov. 1,2, 5 and 7. The ballet performances will be on stage at Süreyya Opera Stage.

The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) will make the premiere of its musical 'Man of La Mancha' on May 24 at the Zorlu PSM. Composed by Mitch Leigh, the musical was first performed in Broadway in 1965. It will also be on the Turkish stage on May 25, 28, 29 and 30.

Soprano Leyla Gencer will be commemorated on the 11th anniversary of her passing by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) with gala concerts on May 10 at the Kadıköy Süreyya Opera and on May 14 at the Zorlu PSM in Istanbul.

The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) will perform a medley of three one-act ballets this season.
