Strasbourg, Jan 15 /Agerpres/ - The political decision to join the Schengen Area should be made until the end of the term of Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, or even before the elections to the European Parliament, because this would boost confidence in the European Union, in Strasbourg, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated on Tuesday in Strasbourg.

On 21-22 June 2018 Sofia hosted the 20th high level meeting of the Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (EU - CELAC).

At their meeting in Brussels on Thursday, the interior ministers of the EU member states vowed to enhance cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

In the aftermath of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in Brussels, the Dutch presidency of the Council of the EU convened an extraordinary meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) council.

Last year Bulgaria returned around 700 migrants who did not meet the requirements for being granted refugee status.

Following the drop in migrant flow to Bulgaria, the country has returned around forty migrants monthly.

At their extraordinary meeting in Brussels on Friday, the justice and home affairs ministers of the EU member states adopted a set of conclusions to reinforce the fight against terrorism.

The extraordinary meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council was summoned by the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU in coordination with French authorities.
