John Amos, the actor best known for his role as the family patriarch in the hit sitcom “Good Times” and as Kunta Kinte in the acclaimed miniseries “Roots”, died at the age of 84, according to longtime publicist Belinda Foster.
Annual parade in NY commemorates Independence Day

US: One Killed, 22 Injured in Shooting After Super Bowl Parade
Kansas City, Missouri, was marred by tragedy as a local radio DJ, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, lost her life in a shooting incident following the celebratory Super Bowl parade. Confirmed by KKFI radio station and reported by People magazine, Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two, fell victim to the violence, leaving behind a devastated community.

One person was killed and multiple children were among 21 injured after a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory rally on Wednesday triggered panic among huge crowds of fans.
Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, which takes patients up to the age of 17, said it was treating 12 people — 11 of them children, nine for gunshot wounds — after the shooting.
