North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has vowed to strengthen his country's nuclear capabilities "without limits" in response to perceived threats from the US, Japan, and South Korea, according to state media reports.

North Korea will halt all road and rail connections with South Korea starting Wednesday in an effort to "completely separate" the two nations. The North's military announced plans to "permanently shut off and block the southern border" while reinforcing positions on its side of the boundary.

North Korea will equip its military with a new 240mm multiple rocket launcher starting this year, state media said Saturday, adding a "significant change" for the army's artillery combat capabilities was under way.

Leader Kim Jong Un on Friday oversaw a live-fire test of the "technically updated" rocket system, Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency said.

South Korea says that North Korea has exploded an inter-Korean liaison office building just north of the tense Korean border.
Seoul's Unification Ministry says the destruction of the building at the North Korean border town of Kaesong happened at 2:49 p.m. on June 16.

A military parade began in the capital of the DPRK, Kyodo's Japanese agency reported.

The United Nations condemned North Korea's "outrageous" firing of a ballistic missile over Japan on Aug. 29, demanding Pyongyang halt its weapons program but holding back on any threat of new sanctions on the isolated regime.

He personally oversaw the launch of a projectile over Japan early Tuesday morning Korean time, prompting Tokyo to condemn the test as an "unprecedented threat."        
         

North Korea dismissed warnings by U.S. President Donald Trump that it would face "fire and fury" if it threatened the United States as a "load of nonsense" and outlined detailed plans on for a missile strike near the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam.

North Korea said on Aug. 9 that it is considering plans for a missile strike on the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam, just hours after President Donald Trump told the North that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury."

North Korea said yesterday that it had successfully tested an intermediate-range ballistic missile which met all technical requirements and could now be mass-produced, indicating advances in its ambitions to be able to hit the United States.
