Turkey's growing influence in Libya is reportedly worrying Athens, especially as tensions between Ankara and Benghazi have eased.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 26 received the chairman of Libya's Presidential Council in Istanbul.

The meeting between Erdoğan and Mohammad Younes Menfi at the Vahdettin Mansion lasted around two hours.

Libya's new Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh described Turkey as a "friend and ally," saying his government will work to achieve peace in war-torn Libya.
Dbeibeh's remarks came in an exclusive interview with Anadolu Agency, his first interview ever after being elected to lead an interim government.

The Libyan parliament announced that an appeals court in the east of the country canceled the border demarcation and security cooperation agreements between the Government of National Accord (GNA) and Turkey, according to English language news website Egypt Today on Wednesday, which cited Al Arabiya news channel.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis described the agreement that purportedly delimitated the maritime borders between Turkey and Libya as "geographically ridiculous," saying it completely disregards Crete.
The deal, signed last month in Libya, seeks to create an exclusive economic zone from Turkey's southern Mediterranean shore to Libya's northeast coast.

Turkey's willingness to dispatch troops to Libya is "unacceptable" and such a move would constitute unwanted meddling in the affairs of a friendly country, the speaker of the north African country's parliament said Saturday.

Seif al-Islam, the son and one-time heir apparent of late Libyan dictator Moamar Gadhafi, has been released after more than five years in detention.
