King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer and has begun treatment, Buckingham Palace said on Monday, sparking a flood of support from around the world.

Charles, who became king upon the death of his 96-year-old mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Sept. 8, 2022, has generally enjoyed good health, barring injuries from polo and skiing.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been discharged from a London hospital and will continue his recovery from COVID-19 at his country residence of Chequers, his office said on April 12.

"The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers," a spokesman said.

A man has been killed and another left fighting for life after a shooting in north west London.

Cops were called to reports of a man injured outside Queensbury Tube station shortly after 9pm.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

A man in his twenties was taken to a north London hospital with gunshot wounds.

Buckingham Palace was in lockdown on Friday night after a man armed with a knife injured two police officers.

The 26-year-old suspect was tackled by officers at the scene on the Mall and held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault on police.

A man set himself on fire in the early hours of Feb. 9 outside Kensington Palace, the central London home of Prince William and his wife Kate, and later died of his injuries, British police said.

In a brief statement, palace officials said the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted at 6 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) on May 2 at St. Mary?s Hospital. She traveled by car to the Lindo wing with William.

A health worker who was the first person diagnosed with Ebola in Britain arrived at a London hospital from Scotland early on Tuesday for treatment after contracting the disease in West Africa.
   
The woman arrived at the capital's Royal Free hospital, Britain's designated Ebola treatment centre, in an ambulance accompanied by several police vehicles, a Reuters witness said.
