Zaev revisits Macedonian language issue
Amid reactions in Greece over frequent references made in North Macedonia to a Macedonian language, the neighboring country's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said on Wednesday that the name of the language was accepted in the Prespes agreement, which was ratified this year by the two parliaments.

Institutions in Northern Macedonia Are Changing Their Names Today

Macedonian Police, Migrants Clash in Idomeni
Macedonian police clashed with migrants who attempted to illegally enter into Macedonia from Greece on Sunday.
The clash occurred at the Idomeni refugee camp at the Greek-Macedonian border where thousands of migrants have been stranded for weeks after the closure of the Western Balkan route.

Macedonian Parliament Dissolved Ahead of Early Elections
The Macedonian parliament was dissolved on Thursday, paving the way for the holding of the early parliamentary elections scheduled to take place on June 5.
However the holding of the elections on this date remains under question as Zoran Zaev, the leader of the largest opposition party, the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), threatened to boycott the snap polls.
Macedonia Extends State of Emergency on Its Borders Until End of Year
The Macedonian parliament approved on Monday the extension of the state of emergency in force on the country's southern and northern borders until the end of the year.
Macedonian Defence Minister Zoran Jolevski said the extension was a necessary measure against the increasing number of refugees entering and passing through the country.
Macedonia Also Moves to Close Western Balkan Route to Migrants
Macedonia has also moved to close its borders to migrants traveling on the so-called Western Balkan route.
No new arrival of asylum-seekers in the Gevgelija refugee transit centre has been registered for more than fifty hours, which means that this section of the Western Balkan route has been practically closed.
Macedonia Postpones Early General Elections to June 5
Macedonia postponed the early parliamentary elections, which had initially been scheduled to take place on April 24, to June 5.
Recently, the EU and the USA expressed concern that the necessary conditions were not in place for the holding of fair and democratic elections.
