BELGRADE/SKOPJE - The situation in Macedonia is leading to us ethnic Serbs becoming an endangered minority and suffering the same fate as the Kosovo Serbs, says Macedonian MP Ivan Stoilkovic, the leader of the only Serb party in the country - the Democratic Party of Serbs (DPS).

Legal and political experts in Macedonia warn that if the Special Prosecution, SJO, is forced to stop raising new indictments in June 2017, as the original deadline predicts, Macedonia's longstanding crisis  will go back to square one.

Without the prospect for justice being done for many alleged wrongdoings, they say the crisis will only worsen.

Despite their common goal of toppling the long-standing Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, opposition parties from the ethnic Macedonian and Albanian blocs appear unlikely to form a joint front in the coming general election, political observers say.

Macedonia's Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, and opposition Social Democrat, leader, Zoran Zaev, on Tuesday agreed on the names of the experts who will be appointed to serve on the electoral commission, DIK.

The state office tasked with rooting out former informants said it has checked all 1,500 political party candidates for the 123-seat parliament and established that none of them collaborated with the intelligence services in the Communist era.
