Bankruptcy of German tour operator FTI may hit Antalya’s tourism sector
The tourism industry in Türkiye's popular holiday destination Antalya is facing risks from the bankruptcy of the German tour operator FTI.
Earlier this week, FTI, Europe's third-largest tour operator, filed for insolvency in a court in Germany.
It said on June 3 trips that haven't yet started will be canceled or scaled back.
Early bookings signal strong summer tourism
Early bookings for summer from domestic holidaymakers have been promising, boosting hopes among hoteliers that this will be a good season for the local tourism industry.
Companies started to collect early bookings in December.

Tourism activity likely to remain robust, say hoteliers
Hoteliers seem hopeful that the strong tourism activity witnessed during the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday will maintain its momentum until the fall.
Tens of thousands of holidaymakers flocked to resort towns along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts during Eid, with some hotels in those destinations fully booked.

Around 100,000 foreign tourists are arriving by air in Antalya each day, according to Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, while the number of international holidaymakers visiting the Mediterranean resort reached 5 million.
"We have made a good start to the tourism season. Hopefully more tourists will visit the city in the coming months" he said.
