Open University gathering pace, introducing new courses
Greece's Open University will be adding new courses to its curriculum in the fall, with the aim of becoming more attractive to students vis-a-vis the country's public universities and technical colleges.
Civil servants to stage rally in central Athens on Monday
Civil servants' union ADEDY will be staging a rally in central Athens at 2 p.m. on Monday to protest government public sector evaluation plans.
The protest march will be held at the Ministry of Administrative Reform on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue and is expected to cause traffic disruptions.
Municipal authorities looking at new hirings in 2017
Greece's municipal authorities have submitted applications to hire of a total of 6,667 additional staff, with the majority of hirings pertaining to sanitation services, where payroll costs are covered by municipal taxes.
Firefighters assured of permanent jobs
More than 1,000 firefighters marched on Parliament on Wednesday and smashed their way into the Ministry of Administrative Reform to protest Friday's expiration of 4,000 five-year contracts.

Protesters scuffle with police at Athens rally
Dozens of protesting municipal workers scuffled with police during a rally at the Interior Minister in downtown Athens on Wednesday as they tried to push through the building's entrance.
The workers from the POE-OTA union were demanding a meeting with Interior Minister Costas Poulakis in order to voice their demands but were thwarted by police.

University staff to stage protest on Thursday
Administrative staff at Athens university will stage a walkout between 11 a.m. and the end of their shift on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a protest has been planned Thursday outside the Ministry of Administrative Reform. The rally will be joined by staff at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
