Court allows culling of 222 bears
Ljubljana – An environmental organisation has lost a legal battle against the Environment Ministry’s decision to allow the culling of 222 brown bears in Slovenia this year, by the end of September. The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning said the ruling showed its decision for the culling was legally right and professional.

Vizjak and Timmermans review Slovenian presidency’s environment priorities
Ljubljana – Environment Minister Andrej Vizjak held a virtual meeting with European Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans on Friday to present the priorities of Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of the EU concerning the environment and climate change. They also touched on the Fit for 55 package and the Glasgow climate conference in November.
Contentious provision removed from water bill
Ljubljana – The environment and economy ministries have withdrawn a planned provision allowing construction of manufacturing facilities which use hazardous materials in water protected areas. The decision was welcomed by the Greens Slovenia party, and by environmentalists, who however also want the other contentious provision removed.
