Romania's progress in implementing the Sectoral Operational Program 'Environment' earned praise during the talks held on Thursday in Brussels between Minister of Environment and Climate Change Attila Korodi and DG REGIO Director General Walter Deffaa, the Ministry of Environment informs.

Bulgarian Environment Ministry Warns of Possible Flash Floods

The Ministry of Environment has warned of expected rise of river water levels mainly in western and central Bulgaria on Wednesday.

Local flash floods due to intensive rainfalls are also possible.

Bulgaria's Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology forecast for Wednesday is for rainfalls in many parts of the country, more excessive in the eastern Bulgarian Burgas region.

Bunkering firm head to be bailed


The president of bunkering company Eteka SA, Giorgos Spanos, was expected to be released on bail on Wednesday after being arrested in connection to an alleged illegal fuel smuggling ring. Also expected to be bailed was an Eteka SA member of staff and a Ministry of Environment employee.

Kosovo MPs Outraged as War Memorial Closes

The closure of a memorial dedicated to Kosovo Liberation Army fighters in the village of Marina, in Skenderaj/Srbice, has sparked a heated debate amongst lawmakers who have accused institutions of neglecting the monument.
