Bird flu found in Turkey's west, area quarantined
Bird flu was found among dead birds in Turkey?s western district of Band?rma?s Edincik area, where around 1.2 million chickens are bred in poultry facilities. The three kilometers surrounding the poultry facility where the flu was found was quarantined.

First underwater archaeology vessel launched
Konyaâs Selçuk University on June 17 launched Turkeyâs first underwater archaeology research vessel in Antalya. With teams from Warsaw and Naples, the university will set off in July 1 to discover the underwater archaeological richness of the Mediterranean, spanning until Aug. 31.

Infant formula withdrawn from market with suspect of GMO
The Bursa provincial directorate of food, agriculture and livestock said they have detected a genetically modified organism (GMO) in the infant formulas of a private company.
Following the discovery, they sent notice to every province to withdraw certain products from the company, Gıda GüvenliÄi Hareketi Food Security Movement said on its website.
