Moldovan Parliament

Two US Congressmen, David Price and Pete Olson, have signed a resolution that calls on the US to back Moldova's European future, and urges Russia to pull out troops from the breakaway Transnistria region.

Moldova asked the United Nations on Wednesday to discuss the withdrawal of Russian troops from the separatist region of Transnistria at the upcoming 72nd session of the General Assembly.

The Moldovan Ambassador to the UN, Victor Moraru, forwarded a letter from his government that calls the presence of Russian troops in Transnistria a threat to international peace and security.

A former member of the Moldovan parliament has been arrested and accused of treason and espionage for Russia, amid heightened concerns over Moscow's influence in the country.

Romania's Prime Minister Victor Ponta is welcoming the voting in office on Wednesday of Moldova's Government headed by Chiril Gaburici, wishing good luck to the new Moldovan prime minister.

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta and the accompanying official delegation paying a visit to the neighbouring Republic of Moldova on the occasion of Moldova's Independence Day celebrated on Aug. 27 laid bunches of flowers at the monument of medieval ruler Stephen the Great and Holy in the Moldovan capital on Wednesday.

The ratification by the Romanian and the Moldovan Parliament of the Association Agreement of the European Union with the Republic of Moldova represents a "historic moment," Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Wednesday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Titus Corlatean, on Tuesday received the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Moldova that participated in the last couple of days in Bucharest in the 4th meeting of the Joint Romanian-Moldovan Parliamentary Committee for European Integration, occasion on which he congratulated the authorities in Chisinau for their progress made in the European
