Montenegro's Chief Special Prosecutor for Organized Crime, Milivoje Katnic, on Sunday accused "nationalists in Russia" of having organized a criminal group that was tasked with overthrowing the government on election day on October 16.

Vucic said the people arrested in Serbia following an alleged coup d'etat in Montenegro have nothing to do with politicians in either country, but had connections to a third country.

The Montenegrin Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Monday that hundreds of criminal complaints had been filed alleging electoral fraud and vote-buying in Sunday's general election, although international observers said thr polls were held in a competitive environment and that fundamental freedoms were generally respected.

The Montenegrin Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday ruled that its new boss, Ivica Stankovic, has committed no criminal offences in the past related to bribery.

For two months, the prosecution has probed Stankovic's affairs after two opposition politicians accused him of bribery.
