Pakistan’s south braces for deluge from swollen northern rivers

Pakistan's flooded southern Sindh province braced Sunday for a fresh deluge from swollen rivers in the north as the death toll from this year's monsoon topped 1,000.

The mighty Indus River that courses through Pakistan's second-most populous region is fed by dozens of mountain tributaries to the north, but many have burst their banks following record rains and glacier melt.

A Strong Earthquake Shook Pakistan: Casualties and many Injured

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook northern Pakistan. 25 people were killed and more than 400 were injured, BTA reported.

Footage broadcast by Pakistani media showed collapsed buildings and major cracks along roads in the city of Mirpur, located in Pakistan's Azad Kashmir, near the border with India.

Torrential monsoon rains kill at least 89 in Pakistan: officials

Two days of torrential monsoon rains have killed at least 89 people in Pakistan, officials said Friday, as authorities ordered the evacuation of low-lying areas around a major river.
      
The deaths have all come in the most populous province Punjab and in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, with most caused by roof collapses and electric shocks.
      

10 dead, up to 200 feared trapped in India monsoon landslide

A major landslide on July 29 struck a village in western India following heavy monsoon rains, killing at least 10 people and leaving up to 200 feared trapped, an official said.

Emergency forces rushed to a remote village in Pune district of Maharashtra state, where a hill collapsed sending mud and rocks tumbling onto homes in the morning as residents were reportedly sleeping.
