Chemistry Institute spearheads effort to reduce plastic waste in Mediterranean
The Slovenian Institute of Chemistry will coordinate a major EU-sponsored innovation action project seeking ways to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the Mediterranean. The Remedies project will bring together 23 partners from 12 countries. It is valued at €9.15 million.
Slovenian researchers first to find microplastic in hailstones
A group of Slovenian researchers is the first in the world to find microplastic in hailstones. The results of their analysis suggest that microplastic may also contribute to the formation of large ice balls or lumps, they said at Monday’s press conference in Ljubljana.
Slovenia to get R&D centre for carbon-free technologies
Zagorje ob Savi – The National Institute of Chemistry will build a development centre for carbon-free technologies in the Zasavje region, north-east, it announced on Friday.
The centre will develop all technologies for the green transition, such as hydrogen and carbon capture and conversion technologies, and advanced battery technologies.
Slovenian-developed vaccine to be designed as spray
Ljubljana – After developing a vaccine against Covid-19 last year, Slovenian researchers will focus on developing a technology to spray the vaccine into the nose or mouth, the head of the research team, Roman Jerala, has revealed for the STA.
