Summer is definitely on its way. On Tuesday, next week, temperatures in some parts of Bulgaria will soar to 38 degrees, according to the forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow code alert for intense rainfall in 13 regions of Bulgaria. The warning applies to Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Sofia-region, Sofia-city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, and Smolyan.

A powerful storm accompanied by hail and rainfall wreaked havoc in several Sofia districts, including "Druzhba" 1 and 2, "Mladost" 3, and "Slatina," as well as in various villages around Sofia.

The new week in Bulgaria will commence with overcast skies, particularly pronounced in the western regions where rain, sporadic showers, and thunderstorms may occur. Today, precipitation is expected to diminish by the evening. Conversely, eastern areas will experience minimal rainfall and enjoy more sunshine throughout the day.

According to Assistant Professor Anastasia Stoycheva, PhD, the Director of the Department "Forecasts" at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, most of the country, except for Southwest Bulgaria, will experience below-normal temperatures and ongoing precipitation until the end of May.

On May 13th, the weather is expected to be predominantly cloudy across the country. Rain showers are forecasted for eastern areas in the morning, with isolated showers anticipated in western regions later in the day. A light to moderate easterly-northeasterly wind is expected. Temperatures are forecasted to range from 15°C to 20°C, with Sofia experiencing temperatures around 16°C.

May 9 brings a mixed bag of atmospheric phenomena, with isolated rain showers dominating the western regions and the looming possibility of thunderstorms in the southwest. Residents are advised to brace themselves for a day of weather-related surprises.

Bulgaria is on high alert as the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issues a Yellow Alert for impending heavy rain and thunderstorms across Western, Central, and Southeastern regions on May 8.
