Bulgaria's Tourism Sees Growth in Revenue, Number of Visits in 2014

Tourism continues to be a major sector in Bulgaria's economy, registering a growth in revenue and in the number of tourists, according to an analysis of the Institute of Marketing at the request of the Ministry of Economy and Energy.

The survey is based on summary data from the National Statistical Institute and the Bulgarian National Bank, investor.bg notes.

Bulgaria’s GDP Growth Intensifies in Q2 2014

Bulgaria's economy grew by a preliminary 1.6% on the year in the second quarter of 2014 following a 1.2% increase in the first quarter, the statistics office said on Wednesday.

The second-quarter increase is an improvement on the result recorded in the equivalent period of 2013 when Bulgaria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 0.4%.

Expert Predicts 20% Growth in Bulgarian Tourists in Greece by end-2014

Bulgaria expects a 20% growth in the number of Bulgarian tourists in Greece by end-2014, according to the Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism.

In 2013, a total of 970 000 Bulgarian tourists visited Greece, and the number is expected to reach 1.2 million by end-2014, according to Rumen Draganov, Director of the Institute, as cited by investor.bg.
