More than 1,500 protesters gathered in central Athens on Sunday to oppose legislation that would legalize same-sex marriage in Greece. The bill is set for a vote in parliament in days.

The scene to the right of New Democracy consists of Hellenic Solution, Niki and Spartiates (Spartans), hovering above and below the 3% threshold, according to the polls. 

New Democracy is clearly concerned that if the ultranationalist Niki party makes it into the next Parliament, it could gnaw away at the conservatives' majority, and this concern has prompted an effort to repatriate part of the far-right vote and redefine the party's agenda.

Given that the final victor of the June 25 elections appears to be a foregone conclusion, the key stake for conservative New Democracy next week hinges on the percentage of the vote it will get and the achievement of an outright majority, which would exceed the 156 minimum number of seats in Parliament.
