Ethics Committee votes to lift Polakis’ immunity
Parliament's Ethics Committee has ruled in favor of lifting the immunity from prosecution of SYRIZA MP and former alternate health minister Pavlos Polakis, with a vote in a House plenary session expected on the issue, most likely next week.

Parliament lifts immunity for three MPs
Greek lawmakers on Thursday voted to lift the immunity of three MPs in separate cases previously discussed in the Parliament's Ethics Committee.
A total of 224 MPs in a total of 225 agreed to lift the immunity of former health minister Andreas Loverdos, as regards the ongoing investigation into the handling of the Novartis case.

Parliament's Ethics Committee will be advising lawmakers to lift the immunity from prosecution of former health minister Andreas Loverdos with regards to the ongoing investigation into the handling of the Novartis bribery case.
Exploiting the institutions
The debate by Parliament's Ethics Committee on Wednesday was indeed a revealing one with regard to ruling SYRIZA's mind-set. Government MPs on the committee decided to make use of Article 86, concerning the prosecution of ministers, to help shield Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis and the former coalition partner and Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos from prosecution.
