Greek president, PM attend October 28th commemoration events
Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou laid a wreath at a war memorial in Thessaloniki and attended the big military parade in the northern port city commemorating Greece's entry into World War II on October 28, 1940 after it defied an Italian ultimatum and the Axis occupation.
Student parade held in Athens to commemorate War of Independence
The traditional student parade to mark the anniversary of the outbreak of the Greek Revolution in 1821 has been held in Athens.
Crowds of spectators lined the streets to watch the parade, which passed the reviewing platform in front of Parliament on Syntagma Square.
Officials attending included Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Athens Mayor Charis Doukas.
