An explosion occurred yesterday, Tuesday, August 20, in the boiler of a tanker flying a Liberian flag, which was within the premises of the Syros Nerio Shipyard for maintenance and repair work.

More specifically, on Tuesday afternoon, the Syros Port Authority was informed of an explosion in the tanker’s boiler.

Following the recent fire aboard the ferry boat “Kapetan Stavros” while it was docked at the Old Port of Spetses, the need to implement and enforce the master plan for the island’s port has been brought back into focus.
